GOALS LEAD A CHARMED LIFE IN INCHICORE STALEMATE

STALEMATE in Inchicore as Dundalk moved onto five clean sheets in five - but failed to find a way to goal.

The Lilies dominated for an hour and should have ended the contest by the break. Having defended for their lives at times against Bohs on Friday, the St Pat’s defence held firm again. Unlike against Bohs, however, they just failed to nick a winner. Barry Murphy denied Pat Hoban’s low effort early on before Darragh

Markey cleared Sean Hoare’s header off the line as half-time approached.

Moments later, though, Toner produced a remarkable diving header on the Pat’s goal-line to prevent Ronan Murray scoring his first for the club. Murray smacked the crossbar with a free-kick just before the hour mark and Murphy parried away Dane Massey’s (right) closerange effort.

Survival bred self-belief for the hosts, who came close to breaking the deadlock when Ryan Brennan rose to meet Conan Byrne’s corner.

Gary Rogers was relieved to see the header just clear the bar - and neither side had the guile to find a winner.
