MOSS CAN BOSS IT FOR ELLIOTT

-

MOSSBACK, whose connections won the amateurs’ four-miler last year, can thrive in this test.

Successful in a beginners’ chase at Naas in November, the Gordon Elliott trainee carried owner Michael O’leary’s colours to a respectable fourth in a Punchestown Grade 3 event in January.

Mossback looked the most likely winner when coming down at the last back at Naas 15 days later, as Moulin A Vent beat my selection’s stablemate Jury Duty.

But he jumped round with no problems when a half-length second to Monbeg Notorious in a Navan Grade 2 – a run that ranks as a personal best – on his most recent start.

Both Mossback’s style of running, and the fact he’s by four-time Ascot Gold Cup hero Yeats, suggest Lisa O’neill’s mount will come into his own when stamina is held up to the light.

Keeper Hill and Sizing Tennessee, likewise bred along stout lines, merit serious consideration, along with mare Ms Parfois.
