One of the biggest calendar events of the year St Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday this year and with it comes a long weekend.

So three days of extensive partying isn’t unreasonable and there is lots on offer as you can imagine.

Tonight our friends at PYG present Detroit Swindle.

The duo formed back in 2011 and Lars Dales & Maarten Smeets are names behind the act. It all started after Lars, who was programming a few nightclubs in Amsterdam, had to fire Maarten for playing too much underground music.

They started talking and found out they had a mutual love for Motown, hip-hop and early house music. Not long after, they started making music together and the rest as they say is history.

They later founded Heist Recordings which has released exciting EPS from the likes of Obas Nenor, Andy Hart, Brame & Hamo, and of course Detroit Swindle themselves as well as not ale right releases of their own on labels like Freerange, Future Classics, Dirt Crew - where they released their well-received debut album Boxed Out - Tsuba, Classic Music Company, Kaoz Theory and many more.

Detroit Swindle have been playing live shows right from the get go, and have expanded their set-up ever since. Currently, they’re touring with an extensive setup of analogue and digital instruments and they’re bringing an additional key player with them to be able to perform their own music, unexpected covers and improvise on the spot.

Colin Perkins supports and doors are 10pm. It’s worth noting that it’s PYG’S 9th birthday this weekend and as well as their Patrick’s Day party on Sunday they have Ame DJ to help the celebrations along with Powerscourt opening up to host the event.

Tickets for that on are €30. Keeping with

Bank Holiday Sunday, Dave Lee, aka Joey

Negro, is back in Dublin just over a year after his last gig here for the Strictly Deep crew.

This time his is in 39/40 on Arran Quay and although he surely needs little introduction he is the man behind Z records and many monikers such as Raven Maize, Akabu, Jakkarta, Sunburst Band and Raw Essence as well as many many more.

A titan of the UK house music movement he has remixed too many to mention as well as his own district sounding productions.

Support from George Feely & Karl Guest and tickets €18.
