Mum’s appeal: Please help us find Elisha

Fears for teen last seen on bridge

- BY NIALL O’CONNOR and CONOR KANE

THE mother of a missing teenage girl yesterday begged the public to help find her.

Grainne Gault’s 14-year-old daughter Elisha, from Carrick on Suir in Co Tipperary, disappeared on St Patrick’s night.

She was last seen at 10.15pm on a bridge in the town.

Grainne posted on Facebook on Sunday: “As we approach the end of the first 24hrs, I want to sincerely thank everybody for their efforts in locating my baby girl but unfortunately, they have been in vain.

“If you know of her whereabouts, please let us know.

“All we are concerned about is her safety. If she is well, let ourselves or the guards know and we can call off all the search efforts.

“Thank you to all of the people of Carrick, parents, teenagers, sending well-wishes and going out in that frosty weather to look for her.

“Thank you to the local gardai, River Rescue, Civil Defence and anyone else I’ve missed. Hug your kids that bit tighter tonight, appreciate what you have got.” Emergency services and volunteers continued to search for Elisha yesterday as fears grow for her safety.

Several boats including the Carrickon-suir Rescue Craft, Nenagh Search And Rescue and Waterford River Rescue, have been used in the operation.

The Coast Guard helicopter also scanned the area to support searches by the Civil Defence and local volunteers.

Gardai yesterday made door-to-door inquiries in the town in an attempt to get more details about her movements.

They urged Elisha’s friends or acquaintances to contact the Garda station in Clonmel or Carrick with information.

They also want members of the public in the Carrickbeg/dillon Bridge area to check any CCTV footage they may have since Saturday night as well as any gardens, outhouses or sheds. Anyone with “dash-cam” footage from their vehicles from Saturday or Sunday has also been asked to contact gardai.

CONCERNS are growing every hour teenager Elisha Gault remains missing.

The 14-year-old was last seen on St Patrick’s night on a bridge in Carrick-on-suir in Co Tipperary.

Since then massive searches have been taking place involving the Coast Guard, Civil Defence, gardai and volunteers.

It must rank among the worst possible pain a parent can endure – their child vanishing and the passing of time, not knowing where they are or how they are.

Hopefully Elisha turns up safe and well and returns to her family who miss her terribly.
