OSKAR PARTY ON ICE

- BY JAMES NURSEY

WOLVES’ debutant Oskar Buur salvaged a point for the leaders with a late header to deny Hull a shock win.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, who visit second-placed Cardiff on Friday, were hoping to take a major step to promotion in front of their own fans.

But despite going ahead from Diogo Jota’s spot-kick, which the attacking ace won, they were pegged back.

David Meyler levelled before the break and Wolves defender Ryan Bennett put sub Kamil Grosicki’s low cross through his own net late on.

But Danish youngster Buur headed in seven minutes from time on his league debut.

Wanderers nearly took an early lead when Romain Saiss saw his header well saved by Allan Mcgregor.

The hosts deservedly took the lead in the 18th minute after Jota was caught in the box by Michael Hector. The Tigers bench contested the call but Jota ruthlessly despatched it low into the net for his 14th of the season.

Mcgregor didn’t get near the spot-kick but he did produce a double save from Jota and Costa soon after.

It helped enable Hull to level in the 38th minute after a mistake from Helder Costa let in Meyler, who was tugged back by Roderick Miranda.

Irish midfielder Meyler took the spot-kick himself to make it 1-1 as he too sent keeper John Ruddy the wrong way for his fourth of the season.

Wolves hauled off Miranda at the break to send on Benik Afobe upfront. But Hull continued to frustrate the hosts and were on course for a shock win when Bennett put through his own net.

Yet there was still time for youngster Buur to make a name for himself after coming off the bench for his first league appearance .
