Supermac’s and Mastercard hiring

A Fast-food chain and a credit card company are to create 375 new jobs, it was announced yesterday.

Supermac’s said 200 additional staff will be hired in three new restaurant­s in Ballyvolan­e, Bandon Road and Tivoli in Cork.

The expansion means the chain will have 13 outlets in the county.

Supermac’s managing director Pat Mcdonagh said: “We have been delighted with the response to our recruitmen­t drive. We held a fair in the Imperial Hotel in Cork and we were delighted with the number and standard of potential employees we were able to engage with following on from that.

“We are looking for managers, store managers, assistant managers and catering assistants.

“We have put structured career paths in place for staff that leads to store manager positions as well as site managers and area managers and we want people that will stay with us and develop with us.”

Meanwhile, Mastercard has confirmed it is to hire 175 new employees in Dublin.

Focused on “driving innovation and creating the future of payments around the world,” the posts include software engineers, blockchain specialist­s, data scientists and project managers

There are also vacancies for analysts, product designers, cloud infrastruc­ture specialist­s and security experts.

Business Minister Heather Humphreys said: “I warmly welcome the new jobs coming with the announceme­nt.”

Mastercard’s office in Leopardsto­wn, Co Dublin, is the global base of Mastercard Labs and houses 380 staff.
