Johnson’s really hot to Trotter

- BY JAMES CANDY

BRISTOL CITY manager

Lee Johnson is taking inspiration from Only Fools and Horses as his side aim to snatch a play-off place.

The Robins moved to within three points of the top six with a 3-1 victory over Birmingham on Tuesday.

And Johnson used one of Del Boy Trotter’s wellknown sayings to get the message across to his players.

“We need to win three of the last four games, I think any team will have to do that,” said Johnson.

“So we have to treat these like play-off games.

“We have to be bold, we rode our luck, but you have to do that. Del Trotter said it, ‘He who dares wins’.

“There are still flaws in our game, we still conceded too many shots and the game did get too stretched at times.

“But it’s time for bold actions and bold decisions and that was what I was really impressed with.”

The 3-1 win came after defeats to Millwall and Brentford, and Johnson has told his players to throw off the shackles if they want a place in the Premier

League next season.

“It was all about attacking intent and getting balls into the box. We needed goalmouth action after failing to get a shot on target in the previous games,” he added.

“We’d let everybody down in our two previous games with our attitude. Hopefully we have a new lease of life now.”
