Flooding in after 10 years

Off the Rails star Pamela makes TV comeback with new food show

RTE star Pamela Flood is back on our screens after a 10-year hiatus but is replacing her passion for fashion with food.

The former Off The Rails presenter has landed a new eight-part series Healthy Appetite which kicks off tomorrow.

The show sees two of the country’s top chefs compete each week to create healthier versions of their signature dishes.

Pamela, who helped build restaurant Counter Culture with husband Ronan Ryan, said landing her new TV gig was unexpected.

She added: “I thought it sounded perfect. I would love to do some TV again and food is my passion now so it was a dream job really.

“It was really out of the blue. It wasn’t like I was looking for work.

“I do believe, in a place as small as Ireland, work will find you.

“If somebody wants you they’ll find you, but you do have to remind people you’re around and available.

“For me, doing this show was a lovely reminder of how much I loved it and hopefully it gets recommissioned.”

However, the mum of three admitted her family has replaced TV work as her No1 objective.

She told the RTE Guide: “Now what makes me happy is family and there’s a bit more longevity in that than any TV show.

“My happiness is much more grounded now, it’s more day-to-day real life.

“TV to me now is just the icing on the cake, whereas 10 years ago it was everything. My priorities have changed.

“If more work comes along great, I won’t say no to it, but I’m not depending on it any more and that’s a really nice place to be.”
