Greer’s gloomy prediction
Harry & Meghan FEMINIST writer Germaine Greer has predicted Meghan Markle will “bolt” from her marriage to Prince Harry.
The 79-year-old said boredom with royal life would take its toll on actress Meghan.
She said: “She will see vistas of boredom that are unbelievable.
“I think the pressure to escape from ‘The Firm’ is crushing.”
Referring to Meghan’s divorce from Trevor Engelson after just two years, she said: “She bolted before, she was out of the door. I hope in a way that she’ll bolt. But maybe she’ll take Harry with her.”
Speaking on the 60 Minutes show in Australia, Ms Greer suggested Meghan, 36, was after Harry’s money. She said:
“Why would a girl born in poverty marry a man worth 53 million quid?
“I can’t think of a single reason.”
PRINCE Harry has spoken of how “grateful” he is to have Meghan by his side as he starts work as Commonwealth Youth Ambassador.
As the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting began in London, Harry, 33, said he and Meghan were “hugely excited” by the new role.
In a speech, he said: “Young people are the answer to the challenges of today.” She also criticised Meghan’s fashion style, calling a brown hat she wore to Sandringham a “turd of a hat”.
David Mclure, the author of a book on the royal family’s finances, said to suggest that Meghan was gold-digging was “patronising”. He said: “She is an independent woman with an independent income and assets.”
