Friendly fire aimed at Bradley

- BY MICHAEL SCULLY

TOMMY BARRETT reckons Stephen Bradley won’t be mentioning cup finals again any time soon.

The Limerick boss is friendly with his Shamrock Rovers counterpart but is looking to inflict further pain on Bradley’s Hoops project in Tallaght on

Friday.

Bradley got burned on social media when Bohs beat Rovers last Friday after he had claimed the derby was Bohs’ ‘cup final’.

Bray Wanderers’ official twitter account also latched onto the comment after the Seasiders inflicted another defeat on Rovers on Monday night - their third defeat on the spin and sixth in 12 league games.

Struggling Limerick are next up for the Hoops and Shannonsiders boss Barrett joked: “Every match is a cup final for us.

“I think in fairness to him, people say things and he said it off the cuff. He’s a young manager - I’m sure I’ve said enough as well.

“But I suppose you learn by your mistakes - and he won’t say it again.”

Bradley admitted after the 1-0 loss in Bray that only the right results will keep him in the job, despite his ambitious long-term plans for Rovers.

Limerick haven’t won since March 9 - beating basement club Bray - and Barrett, who has a host of injury problems, admits he needs to bolster his attacking options.

The Shannonsiders have scored only one goal in the eight games since that last win - and lost six of those outings.

But when asked if the Rovers game was one they could target, he replied: “They’re not on a great run, we’re obviously not, so yeah, why not?.”
