Elliott is ready to dominate

- BY PETER O’HEHIR

THERE’S free admission for all in Limerick this evening, for a seven-race jumps card transferred from Kilbeggan.

It’s the last National Hunt action before next week’s Punchestown Festival. And, while it won’t have a major bearing on the destination of the trainer’s title, Gordon Elliott looks set for a good evening.

His four-year-old Kuraka, which bumped into Espoir D’allen in Down Royal in November and hasn’t been seen since finishing third at Dundalk in February, is napped to land the Follow Limerick On Twitter Maiden Hurdle.

Prior to his Dundalk effort, Kuraka finished third to Mr Adjudicator at Leopardstown, form boosted when the winner went on to Grade 1 success at Leopardstown and finished second to Farclas in the Triumph at Cheltenham. The selection is set to receive 15lb from chief threat, Denis Hogan’s Turbine.

Elliott’s Falak sets the standard in the opening Follow Limerick On Facebook Maiden Hurdle.

Moonlight Escape’s consistency was rewarded at Cork last time, when she was left clear by the last flight fall of subsequent winner Tell Ma Annie. And she should be noted on her fencing debut in the Irish Stallion Farms Beginners Chase.

Meanwhile, Davy Russell missed yesterday’s action in Fairyhouse due to feeling “unwell” and plans sitting out Limerick today in preparation for Punchestown next week.

Sean Flanagan picked-up the spare ride on Azua Emery in the opening mares maiden hurdle and duly delivered for Gigginstown House Stud and Elliott as the consistent four-year-old justified 2/1 favouritism at the expense of chief market rival Mysloegin.
