RODGERS KEEN ON GRIFF DEAL STOKES FINDING TROUBLE AGAIN!

v BRENDAN RODGERS admits he’s determined to make Leigh Griffiths a

Celt for life.

The Hoops hitman has revealed he’s in talks over a new deal – despite his current contract already running until the summer of 2021.

Griffiths has set his sights on staying at Parkhead all the way to a testimonia­l and Rodgers insists he will be delighted to secure the striker for the distant future.

The boss said: “I’d love to have him here and tie him down. Talks are ongoing with his representa­tives and he’s a player we want to keep.”

Griffiths is in the frame to face former club Hibs at Easter Road tomorrow.

ANTHONY STOKES is set to be sacked by Greek club Apollon Smyrni after going missing for more than a week.

Hibs boss Neil Lennon had finally run out of patience with the player and now his spell in Greece has hit the buffers.

The Hoops can seal the league to claim seven-ina-row but the manager said: “Knowing Neil like I do, he’ll be doing everything he possibly can to do that. He also has his profession­al pride as well.

“His team have been great this year for him and he’ll want them to continue with their challenge in the league.

“It was probably the most difficult game we could have had to play.

“Neil and his team have done great this season. They’ve always been a difficult opponent to play against.”

Rodgers has been impressed with the Leith men this term after they romped to the Championsh­ip last year.

He said: “They’re a top-class club and they’ve been that for a number of years.

“Neil obviously came in and got them promoted – his mentality and drive will have galvanised the club.” yet to score after four games for Apollon while the club revealed last week he hadn’t turned up for training.

He’s now been AWOL for more than a week and Apollon want his contract ripped up. A club statement read: “The player is in clear breach of his contract. He has failed to even contact us during the period he has not turned up.

“As a consequenc­e of this we’re looking to see if we can legally terminate his contract.”
