Helena and mum Catherine A VAN stolen with a pet dog still inside may have been used in a robbery across the border.
The vehicle was taken from a filling station in Co Louth while owner Tim Mullins was inside buying a loaf of bread.
The thief took off with the distinctive black liveried van with 12-yearold Trixie inside.
Tim’s distraught daughter Helena told the Irish Mirror: “The van can be replaced but our dog cannot. She was bought for my mam’s birthday and we are desperate to get her back.
“We’d ask everyone to be on the look out for her and if she is spotted on a website anywhere please let us know.”
The van, which belongs to the Glen Gat Guest House, was taken from an Appletree garage on Carrick Road at Dundalk around 5.40pm on Monday.
It has been caught on CCTV footage at several areas.
SPOTTED
At 5.55pm it was seen at Muckions garage near Oriel Park. A man got out of the van and bought a shirt, a baseball cap and cigarettes.
Minutes later it was spotted at Hacksballs crossroads. Then the Hiace van was at Casey’s garage in Crossmaglen, Co Armagh, and further along the road into the North it was seen to be driven erratically on the A1.
It was spotted in Crumlin, Co Antrim, at the site of a robbery at a John Barr’s garage and the owners were called by a member of the public to alert them.
The van was later found burnt out in West Belfast, but there was no sign of Trixie.
Helena said: “We are desperate to get Trixie back and hope our friends in Northern Ireland will understand our distress.
“We are real animal lovers and we know there’s a good network of people like us all around the island of Ireland. Please help us.”
