Heroes in Hiding

-

Dublin alt rockers Heroes in Hiding are back on the road is support of their debut album which drops next month.

Following a blast of gigs, the band spent most of the tail end of 2017 in the shadows writing Actor, which explores the idea of authenticity and belonging.

The four-piece are set to play dates in Dublin, Cavan, Carlow, Cavan, Offaly and Monaghan.

The Beat: What’s new?

HIH: Our brand new single I Live for You is quite new and is doing the rounds on Irish radio at the moment. We also have a new album Actor which is out on May 25 which is very new.

The Beat: When is the next gig?

HIH: Our next headline show is our album launch in the Tivoli theatre on May 25. Obviously May 25 is also referendum day so we would like to gently remind everyone to check the register, make sure your on it and get out and vote. Then come see our show.

The Beat: What has been your best gig so far?

HIH: I think the most important gig for us was the Curtains album launch last year. We held the launch in the Green door market and built a giant cube of projector screens that we put the audience inside. It was an incredible amount of work but the gig was amazing and rightly deserves the title of ‘best gig so far.’

The Beat: Tell us about your new/ latest record?

HIT: The album is called Actor and was written and recorded over the last 18 months. The album deals with questions of disillusionment and trying to live authentically in an increasingly inauthentic world. It’s a lot of fun.

The Beat: Describe you music in one sentence.

HIH: Indie rock with a healthy dose of electronics and a side of samples recorded on my phone.

The Beat: What are you listening to at the moment?

HIH: We’ve been really enjoying the new J Colleran stuff. Also Phoebe Bridgers’ Stranger in the Alps is one of my favourite albums of this year. Wyvern Lingo’s album is also amazing. Nicolas Jaar’s Against All Logic release was also great and the new albums from Mastersystem and Hookworms are also on heavy rotation.

The Beat: What has been your favourite moment as a musician?

HIH: Aside from the Curtains show last year, our set at Castlepalooza last year was amazing. The energy for the gig was incredible and we are very much looking forward to returning to play again this year.

The Beat: What’s in store for you for the rest of 2018?

HIH: Release the album and take it out on the road. Keep an eye on our social media for upcoming tour dates.
