U2 tour will be the best ever EXPERIENCE

- BY DEMELZA de BURCA

U2 have unveiled details of their Experience and Innocence world tour which kicks off in the US next week.

Coming hot on the heels of Joshua Tree 2017, the Dublin rockers hit Tulsa, Oklahoma’s BOK Centre on Wednesday, stopping at 15 North American arenas before finishing up in New Jersey on June 29.

Bono, The Edge, Adam and Larry have been practising in Canada for the sequel to 2015’s Innocence and Experience tour. Posting a photo of a huge disco ball on social media, they wrote: “Three years ago rehearsals were underway in Canada for the #U2ietour.

“Now they’re underway again, for the #U2eitour. Nothing to stop this being the best show ever.”

Another snap shows drummer Larry Mullin Jnr at the end of a corridor, tagged, “#Maninacage Rehearsals Laval”.

Fans attending the gigs are being urged to download an accompanying U2 Experience app for use both at home and at tour venues.

The app, available on i0s or Android, allows concertgoers to hold their phone up and point it at the 100ft-long LED wall forming part of the band’s set, which will trigger a “specially curated audio visual experience emerging through your mobile device”.

At home, fans can point their camera at the latest Songs of Experience album cover to “get a taste of what’s coming up in the show”.

The bold move is a stark contrast to artists such as Jack White who has banned phones from his recent gigs. Tour starts next week
