of aggravated indecent assault – each carrying a standard jail sentence of five to 10 years – on former basketball player Andrea Constand, 45.

She said he drugged her at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004 then sexually assaulted her while she was powerless to stop it. It was the only criminal case to arise from the allegations of more than 60 women who claimed Cosby drugged and assaulted them over five decades.

Cosby, who is on bail while he awaits sentencing, has vowed to appeal the verdict, with his lawyer saying: “The fight is not over.”

Campaigners believe the Ms Constand verdict is a turning point in the #Metoo movement. Lili Bernard, who claimed Cosby sexually assaulted her before giving her a brief role on his sitcom The Cosby Show in 1992, sobbed outside the court in Norristown, Pennsylvania, saying: “It’s a miracle.”

Gloria Allred, an attorney who represented some of Cosby’s accusers, said: “Justice has been done.” District Attorney Kevin Steele said: “Now we really know… who the real Bill Cosby was.” BILL Cosby’s wife of 54 years is under pressure to speak out about the shamed TV star after he was found guilty of sexual assault.

Camille Cosby, 74, was arm in arm with her husband as he attended court this week during the retrial.

A source said: “She has loyally stood by him and all eyes are on her to see what her next steps are.”

TV producer Camille has yet to comment since the verdict on Thursday.

But after the case was heard the first time – ending in a mistrial last year because the jury was deadlocked – Camille blasted prosecutors and the judge. And in 2014 she said her husband’s many accusers were painting “the portrait of a man I do not know”.

She added: “He is a kind man and a wonderful husband, father and friend.”

Cosby’s spokesman said yesterday the 80-year-old comedian and actor was “feeling great” despite being convicted.

Andrew Wyatt added that the US entertainer maintains his innocence.
