JOSE: SAN IS SHINING NOW
JOSE MOURINHO says Alexis Sanchez’s recent form for Manchester United vindicated the decision to sign him.
After a slow start to his United career following his January switch from Arsenal, Sanchez shone in victories over Manchester City and Tottenham. And ahead of his first game against former club Arsenal tomorrow, Mourinho said the Chile forward (left) will be even better for United next season.
“We all know how good he is, that’s why he was chased by many teams I believe, that’s why we fought to have him here,” said Mourinho.
“Since day one, I was sure he was the right player, not just by the typical football qualities, but also by his mentality and we needed that, a little bit more experience, mental aggressiveness.
“I don’t like the January market, but it was now or never and now, if we can have good Alexis until the end of the season, it’s better for us and next season, after pre-season, after being comfortable and adapted, he’s going to be great for us.”
United midfielder Paul Pogba claimed he is judged differently to other players after criticism of his performances this season.
“It’s quite funny because we don’t judge me on the midfield part,” said Pogba. “We judge me on assists and goals and that’s the truth.
“I can make an outstanding game, but if I don’t score or make an assist they will say, ‘that’s normal’ or whatever. But if someone else does it, it is different. They will maybe be man of the match.”
