NO BETTER WAY TO WIN IT

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

BRENDAN RODGERS insists Celtic are ready for any Rangers backlash as his side prepare for their Parkhead date with destiny.

The Hoops are looking to wrap up the Premiership title against their old rivals tomorrow (12 noon) with the Scottish Cup stroll earlier this month still fresh in the minds at Ibrox.

Rangers were slaughtered for standing off the Celts in the 4-0 Hampden humiliation to make it 10 Old Firm games in a row unbeaten, but Rodgers reckons his men can deal with whatever gameplan Graeme Murty rolls out at Celtic Park. He said: “It doesn’t matter. We’ve played 10 times now and there’s been different elements and tactics to the games.

“You can only cope with what’s in front of you and prepare your players for different scenarios.

“What got lost a wee bit last time was that we actually played really well. There were a lot of reports about how Rangers played tactically but we played well and sometimes that can nullify an opponent.

“Their tactics might have worked well on a different day but we were aggressive, we weren’t timid, in the game and we had the calmness to play football. That’s what we will be looking for again.”

Celtic last won the league at Parkhead against Rangers 39 years ago and Rodgers (right) wants his men to carve out their own place in the club’s history.

He said: “I was six then! It was a long, long time ago.

“Last year we won it away at Hearts. If you can do it in front of your own supporters and against one of your big rivals then great.”

Moussa Dembele and Mikael Lustig will be fit for the game.
