ALNWICK: I’LL BE ALL RIGHT JAK

-

JAK ALNWICK insists he has no Old Firm fears having gone into the firing line against superstars such as Wayne Rooney and

Robin van Persie.

The Rangers back-up keeper is set to start at Celtic Park tomorrow in place of crocked

No.1 Wes Foderingham.

Alnwick will taste the contest for the first time and is tackling a baptism of fire as he goes to the home of the champions-elect who are looking to clinch the championship crown.

The Geordie could be fazed by the proposition but he’s been in testing situations before. Four years ago Alnwick was plunged into the deepest of ends while at Newcastle.

Injuries to top picks Tim Krul and Rob Elliott meant he had to go into the derby cauldron against Sunderland at St James’s Park. The 24-year-old (right) said: “I was a young lad going in and I had no experience in men’s football.

“We ended up getting beat 1-0 but to get that experience of a derby game was brilliant for me.

“I was all right actually. I was a young lad and being from Newcastle, I was just desperate to do well. I kind of forgot about the nerves.

“I’ve played against the very best. The Rooneys, the van Persies, the best of them. I am not one that gets massively nervous for games like that.

“I have been there [Celtic Park] before for a few games and experienced the atmosphere and stuff so we know what to expect.

“Every game I look for a clean sheet. To get one against Celtic would be right up there. We know they have quality and it is down to us to stop them.”
