MURRAY: MY MIND IS RACING

Conor desperate to put Euro pain out of his head and launch PRO14 title tilt

CONOR MURRAY fears a European hangover could derail Munster’s final chance for silverware this season.

The Ireland scrum-half admits the PRO14 title is now crucial to the Reds who last lifted the trophy seven years ago.

But having suffered Champions Cup disappointment against Racing 92 last month, Johann van Graan’s side must bounce back against an in-form Edinburgh if they are to set up a massive semi-final with Leinster.

Murray revealed: “We’ve reviewed the game, looked at why we lost it, we’ve trained in the areas we thought we were weak and tried to fix that. Hopefully we’ve done it for this Saturday. Johann’s got the team in a good place but I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t think about the Racing game quite a bit since then – and I still am thinking about it.

“It’s how you manage it yourself, it’s a natural thing that you have to go through.”

However, Murray insists Munster must now seize this chance at redemption.

Beating Edinburgh, toppling Leinster and going on to win the PRO14 title would be a major achievement.

“It would be worse if the Racing game was the last game of the season and you didn’t have a chance to get over it,” acknowledged 28-year-old Murray.

“That’s the beauty of it – we’ve the chance to win a quarter-final and to perform. We’re all mature enough to know how to get over these things and the chance to win a trophy is massive. Europe’s obviously No1, there’s never any hiding that with Munster, but to win a trophy would be brilliant.”
