Rusty motor found in barn to cost €284k
Aston Martin DB2/4 AN Aston Martin left rusting in a barn for 40 years is to be auctioned in London next month.
The DB2/4 drophead coupe is expected to fetch €284,000, despite the fact fixing ripped seats and restoring the 64-yearold car, one of only 16 made, will cost tens of thousands.
The two-seater, undriven since its owner, a collector, put it in storage in 1977, has done just 22,000 miles and has its original engine.
A spokesman for auctioneer Bonhams said: “Its owner reports the car to be remarkably solid and undamaged underneath, and importantly it retains its original VB6J engine.
“It still carries intriguing detail such as its owner’s manual, jack, grease gun and spark plug holder.”
