UNITED A HOL LOT BETTER

- BY PAUL O’HEHIR

Bray Waterford Tonight, 7.45pm

v GAVAN HOLOHAN says Waterford fear no team in the league as they have proved they can walk the walk and not just talk the talk.

There was a lot of hype around the Blues following Lee Power’s considerable financial investment that saw them romp the First Division.

And they have maintained their momentum to become serious title challengers in the Premier Division after beating Cork City, Dundalk, Derry City and Shamrock Rovers already.

Holohan – who hopes to shake off a hand injury to face Bray tonight – said: “Going into the season there was a lot of talk about us and that gave added pressure.

“We knew we had to come up with the goods once the season started but once we got that first win under our belt the momentum kept rolling.

“We’ve put in some good performances and dug out some really big points. I think we’re value for where we are in the league - I don’t think anyone can argue with that.” side regained second place on goal difference.

In-form Finn Harps drop to fourth after they held Shelbourne to a scoreless draw at Tolka Park.

Goals from Jamie Hollywood and Chris

Mulhall made it back-toback away league wins for Longford as they beat Wexford 2-0 at Ferrycarrig Park.

Boss Neale Fenn now wants to see that on-theroad form reproduced at City Calling Stadium.

“It was tough to get going but the result was never in doubt,” said Fenn.

“But we’ll need to play a little bit better than we did if we want to continue to climb up the table.

“We had a little bit of a wobble with a couple of home defeats, but we’re in a challenging position.”

An early Cian Leonard goal completed a good week for EA Sports Cup semi-finalists Cobh Ramblers as they beat Cabinteely 1-0 at St Colman’s Park to record a first home league win of the season.
