Elite cops vital in terror fight

GARDAI have revealed their projected response times to a potential terror attack.

Assistant Commissioner Michael O’sullivan said armed gardai would be at the scene in Dublin in three minutes.

It is welcome to hear elite officers are available to act but we cannot be complacent – an incident will be chaotic and fluid.

The bravery of gardai is undoubted but the spectre of returning Irish jihadis from war zones will certainly give cause for concern.

The public and authorities must work together to ensure the environment does not exist for the terrorists to attack our way of life.
