A PROPOSAL to set the digital age of consent at 13 was defeated in the Dail yesterday.

But TDS approved a Fianna Fail and Labour amendment to set it at 16.

Sinn Fein’s Donnchadh O Laoghaire said it was a more appropriat­e age, when children will have reached a greater level of maturity.
