50,000 Ed fans have Perfect night in the Park

SHEER excitement gripped the capital last night as Ed Sheeran kicked off his string of Dublin shows.

The Galway Girl hitmaker took to the stage in the Phoenix Park last night for his seventh Irish concert this month after playing in Cork and Belfast. More than 50,000 fans descended to see the English singer-songwriter perform his chart-topping anthems.

Speaking ahead of the gig, concert-goers revealed their excitement.

Anthony Byrne, 22, from Carlow, told the Irish Mirror he’s been looking forward to it for months.

He said: “I can’t wait. I’ve been a massive fan of Ed’s since day one. I went to see him in Croke Park and it was one of the best nights of my life.

“My girlfriend Laura is a big fan too – I surprised her with tickets for her birthday.”

Sheeran also plays Phoenix Park tomorrow and Saturday.

IT was a night to remember for thousands of Ed Sheeran fans in Dublin last night.

The singer serenaded his legion of followers in Phoenix Park with hits such as Shape of You and Thinking out Loud.

It was a gig to stick long in the Ed.
