CHRISTINE Lampard has told of her joy at finding she was expecting her first child at the age of 39, revealing she took up to eight pregnancy tests just to be sure.

The TV presenter broke the news to her fellow panellists on ITV’S Loose Women, revealing she was 21 weeks pregnant by football star husband Frank Lampard, 39.

Asked how many tests she took, Christine said: “At least about seven or eight. I felt different, for no reason. I can’t put my finger on anything at all. I thought, ‘Could I be?’. Then you get scared to get excited.”

She admitted she had been unsure if she would conceive. She said: “I’m clearly not 18 any more so we didn’t know if it was going to happen.”

The couple, who married in 2015, kept the news quiet until after the midpregnancy scan. She said: “In that classic kind of anxious, nervous, sort of superstitious way, we wanted to get the big scan done first and then you can open up and start to tell people, because I’ve been really nervous. You’re always thinking the worst.

“It’s nice being able to breathe out now. I was trying to keep it all in to keep it a secret. “When I had my scan, I had the mindset – it’s just amazing, look at that little leg, that is happening inside me. It’s just incredible.” Frank has two daughters Luna, 12, and Isla, 10, from a previous relationship and they are thrilled about the baby. Christine said: “To say they are excited doesn’t do it justice. “I had to say to them at this stage the baby can hear voices and straight away they were like, ‘I am your favourite sister’, chatting to my belly.

“They want a girl, that’s the only stipulation.” Frank has told close friends he is “thrilled” about becoming a dad again.
