TIERNEY.. CASH WILL TALK

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

BRENDAN RODGERS has admitted Kieran Tierney will soon get an offer he can’t refuse and insists the club won’t stand in his way of making mega-bucks.

But the Celtic gaffer is adamant the time to leave isn’t now as the full-back prepares for a summer of intense speculation over his future.

Newly-crowned Europa League champions Atletico Madrid are reportedly sending a scout to run the rule over the 20-year-old full back in tomorrow’s Scottish Cup Final at Hampden.

Manchester United, as well as Premier League rivals Tottenham, have also been linked. Celtic have slapped a £30million price tag on Tierney (left) who signed a six-year deal earlier this season.

Rodgers said: “I’ve been up here a few years and everyone talks about loyalty but it’s also a business for players.

“At a club like Celtic it’s quite natural because it tends to be more of a moral issue that comes into it in terms of being on ‘x’ at Celtic, another club can give him ‘y’. And then it’s very difficult for a young player, or any player, to turn that down. You have to look after yourself.

“It has to work for both. If the player doesn’t want to go, it’s OK, we won’t push him out the door.

“Maybe in the future an opportunity might come for him that he will have to look at and the club will look at but at this moment it’s not even a conversation.”
