FOUR WINS IN A ROW FOR SAINTS

- BY PAUL BUTTNER

ST PATRICK’S 5 DERRY CITY 2 SAINTS twice came from behind to make it four wins on the spin and leapfrog Derry into fourth place in the table following a madcap game at Richmond Park.

A mistake by Barry Murphy gifted Derry the lead on six minutes when Aaron Mceneff pounced on a loose clearance to set up Rory Patterson for a tap in.

Saints were level within a minute, Conan Byrne crossing for

Jake Keegan to sidefoot into the far corner.

But poor defending cost them a second goal on 17 minutes.

Darren Cole galloped forward, worked a one-two with Nicky Low before scoring with a deflected shot.

In an action packed finish to the half, Saints soon turned the game on its head. Derry keeper Dundalk

Then, right on 45 minutes, defender Kevin Toner rose to power a bullet header from Conan Byrne’s corner to the net.

Thomas Byrne skilfully cut inside a defender to rifle home Saints’ fourth goal on 54 minutes.

And Darragh Markey showed delightful feet to add the gloss on 90 minutes with a rising shot. Pts 40 38 33 30 27 22 19 16 15 8
