Moore takes over & calls for all-out assault on the Championship

- BY JAMES NURSEY

DARREN MOORE has vowed to go “all out” to ensure West Brom are promoted after ordering his players to forget about relegation.

The Premier League basement side yesterday confirmed caretaker Moore as full-time boss on an improved, extended contract.

He beat competition from Brentford’s Dean Smith and Leicester No.2 Michael Appleton.

“It’s all about full steam ahead now,” said Moore, who collected 11 points from the six matches he was in charge.

“Those games are gone and it’s a tough schedule ahead of us now and lots of hard work ahead if we are going to get the club moving forward again.”

Moore’s efforts saved Albion further embarrassment in a dire season, which hit an all-time low under Alan Pardew when four senior players “borrowed” a taxi in Spain. He added: “I want a team that’s hard working and a team that wants to win, wants to push the club on and a team that wants to show togetherness, to move forward as one.

“It’s an exciting hard-working summer because I want us to come back together ready for the campaign.

“I’m going all out to try to get those plans and personnel in place to make sure we’ve everything ready.”

Moore was backed by senior members of the squad after impressive wins at Manchester United and Newcastle and at home to Spurs.

It saw him named Premier League manager of the month for April, his only defeat coming in the final game at Crystal Palace with Albion already down.

He will also draw on being promoted four times from the Championship as a player with Albion twice, Bradford and Derby. “We need resilience, focus, dedication and hard work,” he said.

“There’s so many more games, than we’ve been used to, but we should be looking forward to it.

“We’ll need that togetherness I’ve spoken about; everybody has a part to play and of course that includes the fans.”

Jonny Evans did not start a game under Moore and the defender is expected to leave, having a £3million release clause in his contract.
