0 0 MANAGER Ger Lyttle says he has the full backing of the Sligo hierarchy despite what’s been a largely disappointing season so far.

The Bit O’ Red have only won twice in their last ten league outings, scoring just six times in the process. Those victories came over Limerick and Bray, the only two sides currently below them in the table.

But Lyttle is adamant his position is secure.

He said: “My future is fine. We have a young team and we’re trying to build a decent squad. I have the full backing of my board and I will continue to work as hard as I can. All I’ll do is keep working until I’m told otherwise.”

On Saturday, a 0-0 draw with Shamrock Rovers took Sligo back above Limerick due to their superior goal difference.

Lyttle added: “We didn’t create much but we’ve come up against a back five and that can be tough to break down. Yes, we could have created more but I’m happy with the point.” TONIGHT’S GAMES: SEE P41 FIRST DIVISION ROUND-UP UCD BEAT Athlone Town 3-0 to stay five points clear at the top of the First Division table.

Georgie Kelly’s 10th goal of the season put College ahead just before half-time with late strikes from Jason Mcclelland and Daire O’connor sealing the win.

Drogheda United stayed second after a 2-0 win over Wexford at United Park.

Chris Lyons tapped home on 41 minutes with Sean Brennan converting a late penalty.

Galway United remain in third spot as they won 2-1 at Cabinteely.

Defenders Robbie Williams and Marc Ludden put the visitors in control and Cabo had to settle for Keith Dalton’s consolation goal on 88 minutes.
