FREE Summer Love-in... Racing pullout every Saturday

-

Adam Collard Hayley Hughes Jack Fincham SAY goodbye to your summer social life, as Love Island is returning to 3e next week.

This year’s crop of contestants include a nuclear design engineer, a doctor, a star of the West End stage and Danny Dyer’s daughter.

Last year’s series has been watched in 15 countries, and with Love Island Australia launched over the weekend, an episode of the hit show will now air somewhere in the world every day until Christmas.

That’s a whole lot of love.

The series is set to be lucrative, with a string of commercial deals in place.

Superdrug are sponsoring the show for a third year and providing the contestants with all their toiletries as part of a product placement deal, while Rimmel supply the cast’s makeup.

Other partnerships will include Echo Falls wine, which will release special Love Island branded bottles this summer, and clothes brand Missguided which kits out the Islanders at some of their Kendall Rae-knight events. The Islanders will also be using Samsung phones when they shout: “I’ve got a text!”

Host Caroline Flack returns after last year’s series reached 2.9million viewers and believes this year will be just as popular.

“Last year, we reached a bigger audience across different ages,” she says. “People started realising the show is a lot more than what it might seem on the surface.

“People have realised it’s so much more than just being another reality show.

“It’s about real relationships and how they develop and people always see a bit of themselves in everyone.”

She adds: “I think they might think it’s soulless, but in fact that’s the opposite of what it is.”

Speaking about several of the cast being in their late 20s, she says: “I quite like it when we put people in who are older.

“We have a few in this year who are maybe a bit more experienced.” ■ Love Island begins on 3e on Monday, June 4 at 9pm. Niall Aslam Samira Alex Dani Wes Laura Anderson Eyal Booker
