Shannon Airport A US military aerial refuelling aircraft had to make an emergency landing at Shannon yesterday after the crew reported an issue with one of the engines.

The Mcdonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender is believed to have been travelling to a base in the UK at the time.

There were nine crew members on board.

It’s understood the crew of flight CLEAN-18 reported a possible engine fire while it’s also believed that communications with the plane were lost for a time.

Five units of the fire brigade from Shannon Town, who were dealing with a car fire on the M18 at the time, were rerouted to support the airport’s own fire and rescue service.

Two units of Ennis Fire Service, who had been attending the same motorway incident, also responded.

The flight landed at 3pm and was accompanied to a remote parking stand.

An inspection revealed a panel was missing from one of the engines, though it is not known when it separated.

It’s also understood there was no evidence of a fire.

Anna Daly with husband Ben Ward and their boys TV3’S Anna Daly has told how she doesn’t suffer from bad “mummy guilt” any more and forgets about her kids when the light goes green in the studio.

The mother of three hosts her weekend Am show every Saturday and Sunday but is balancing the demands of work and motherhood well.

Dubliner Anna told the Irish Mirror: “I used to feel mum guilt more than I do now.

“I think when I’m in work, I’m in work and I kind of, no offence to my kids who I absolutely adore, but I kind of forget about them. And you put your work hat on.”

Despite loving her presenting gig she admitted it’s natural to miss spending precious weekend time with her brood.

The 41-year-old added: “Again, it doesn’t really feel like work to me. In saying that, weekends are precious family time.

“There’s a bit of juggling between home and work and kids and family stuff. But for now it’s working very well. I’ve a husband who is very tolerant of my weekend gig. You’d need it.

“Ireland AM was one phase of my life. The weekends are different, because I work four days and I think that’s moving closer to the balance.

“If anybody gets the balance right, I don’t know.

ON HER WEEKEND WORK FOCUSED

“You’ve just got to do your best and not beating yourself up over it.

“Some weeks are very work-focused, and others are very family-focused and I think it all balances itself out.”

The blonde admitted baby Rhys is still hard work but she takes it all in her stride.

She added: “James and Ewan are a dream, it’s the baby who’s the hard work. The buggies and the nappy bags and all that goes with it.”

The former marketing executive has no plans to ditch her TV career but revealed her new website is curbing her online spending.

She said: “I launched it a couple of weeks ago, I had great intentions of doing the whole thing myself, then I realised there’s a lot of work in it.

“I think I’ll have to hire a new recruit to help me out with the content. It doesn’t feel like work, which is good.”
