Henry boy gets a five star Rating

- BY PETER O’HEHIR

A RATED, from the in-form yard of Henry de Bromhead, should be tough to beat in the John J Galvin Handicap Chase, highlight of an eightrace jumps card in Listowel which shares the Bank Holiday spotlight with flat action in Gowran Park.

A winning pointer and successful in two of his four chase starts for Liam Kenny, this imposing Flemensfirth gelding ran a cracker on his first run for de Bromhead at the Punchestown Festival.

Ridden by today’s partner Dylan Robinson, he made the running, jumped impeccably and was tiring when making a slight mistake at the last before being beaten five lengths by Kemboy.

A Rated went up 4lb for that run, currently rated 139 and is on my shortlist for this year’s Galway Plate.

And I expect him to deliver today en route to Ballybrit.

De Bromhead and Robinson also have prospects with the frustrating, 118-rated Black Key in the John B Keane Maiden Hurdle.

And Getareason sets the standard in the bumper, he should relish the step-up to two and a half miles.

Meanwhile, in Gowran Park, Jessica Harrington’s Echo Park, a creditable third in a hot Navan maiden won by Broad Street when tackling colts, appeals in the median auction fillies maiden.

On that occasion, she separated future winners Lucius Tiberius (second) and Rapture’s Delight (fourth) and, back against fillies today, makes plenty of appeal, with Kalaxana her biggest threat.

Dream Walker made a pleasing start for his new trainer Jarlath Fahey when finishing ninth to Marshal Jennings on his seasonal debut in Naas and, sure to strip fitter today, has solid each-way claims in the Kilkenny Senior Hurlers June 23rd Handicap.

meeting in Kilbeggan was cancelled due to an issue with the water supply, caused by a burst main at Dysart.

This seven-race card will now go ahead tomorrow.
