BATH OWNER TRUMPED BY JONES JIBE

- BY ALEX SPINK

EDDIE JONES has stepped up his feud with Bruce Craig by branding the Bath owner the “Donald Trump of rugby”.

Jones and Craig traded barbs last week after Beno Obano (above, right) became the fifth Bath player to be badly injured on England duty.

Craig labelled the injury rate “totally unacceptable”, to which Jones countered: “I don’t think anyone at a club has the right to tell a coach how to train a Test team.”

And on arrival in Durban at the start of England’s three-test tour of South Africa, Jones (above, left) went back for another pop.

“Bruce Craig sounds like the Donald Trump of rugby,” he declared. “He has the same hairstyle.

“Everything we do is about training to get better, it’s not about satisfying some bloke who has got plenty of money in Bath and thinks he knows everything about rugby. I find it all a bit tedious.”

Last year Jones seemed happy to be the one compared to the US president after working out what was needed to make England great again then repeating it time after time.

England have not been so great of late, losing their last three Tests and this Saturday try to snap that streak against a South Africa side smarting from a 22-20 defeat by Wales in Washington.

“We will have to step up against England,” said new coach Rassie Erasmus. “The pressure is on us.”
