DARYL’S UP FOR GRABS
DARYL HORGAN is facing a dilemma this summer.
The former League of Ireland star (above) with Dundalk is out-of-favour with Preston North End boss Alex Neil (below).
And a loan move could be on the cards for the winger who impressed off the bench in Saturday’s 2-1 win over
USA on Saturday.
“If there’s not a place for him in
Preston, and if the management team have made that clear to him, then he would have to look elsewhere,” said Ireland boss Martin
O’neill.
“Once you’re not playing regularly, you have to think about what’s happening to you.”
O’neill clearly likes Horgan as other managers might have moved on from a player on the fringes at his club.
“He has tried his heart out in the training sessions we’ve had,” said O’neill.
“He desperately wants to be part of things and that’s always very encouraging.
“He doesn’t want to drop away from it. But he does have a dilemma there.
“He needs to play more often for a start. And you can see that in his general fitness.
“You can see it with Jon Walters. He has played more often now in the last two weeks than he has in the last five months.
“Jon is generally a naturally fit lad but even naturally fit people need to play.”
