- SIOBHAN O’CONNOR

AMANDA Byram did not let her hip injury get in the way of taking part in the VHI Women’s Mini-marathon.

The Dancing With The Stars host said walking the course with mum Betty again was a treat as 30,000 women took to the streets of Dublin in the biggest event of its kind in the world.

VHI ambassador Amanda told the

Irish Mirror: “I just love hanging out with my mum Betty. We did it together last year and it’s such a precious time.

“For some people 10k is easy and for others it’s the biggest, hardest thing they’ve ever done before but everybody’s here starting on the same piece of road and ending on the same piece of road.”

The 44-year-old presenter said a bungie jump was to blame for her hip problems.

She explained:

“My running days are over. I have a labral tear of the left hip which I’m pretty sure I got when I did the bungy jump. Now I do non-high impact, I do spinning and walk a lot,

I try to do rehab exercises.”

Amanda was taking part for charity Victory For Vincent.

Seven-year-old Vincent Lyon has duchenne muscular dystrophy. She said: “They’re going to try to get it from America and it’s a whopping €500K. “I met them when I was doing Dancing With The Stars after my sister introduced me to them.”
