Video refs could cut out errors

-

end of the season and Waterford finish with four points, and lose through a scoring difference, it could all come down to that one wrong decision. That could cripple their Championship.

“Of course you’d feel aggrieved over it, particularly in this day and age when you have Hawk Eye and everything.

“You’d have to say there’s a case for a video referee. It could be someone else’s misfortune as the Championship goes on,” he told Paddy Power News.

Looking forward to Tipp’s critical encounter against Clare on Sunday, Kelly added: “Tipperary have played two times in the space of seven days now. You can’t do that for a third week in-a-row.

“If they do, they are just extraordinary men. They’ve shown character and fitness levels in abundance so they put any doubts on those fronts firmly to bed.

“But they are slow to start. And it seems to take time for them to settle and find that true freedom that comes with confidence.

“There just seems to be a bit of uncertainty for me in the defence. Clare have the same problem.

“If Clare had the six defenders they had in the noughties, they’d be in with a shout as All-ireland contenders. But Tipp seem less steady than Clare confidence-wise.

“It’s going to be a serious battle and they need everything to go their way.”

Meanwhile, Limerick hurlers were last night given a boost with the news that skipper Declan Hannon will be fit to face Waterford on Sunday, having recovered from a stomach bug that meant he lasted just six minutes last week.
