Comic Mcintyre jokes with Dublin fans after moped mugging terror

- BY ANDREW BYRNE

MICHAEL Mcintyre last night told an audience in Dublin of his horror after he was mugged.

The comedian was targeted on Monday afternoon by hammer-wielding thugs while picking up his son from school in London.

The masked muggers pulled up alongside his Range Rover on a moped before demanding his €17,000 Rolex watch.

Despite the trauma, he made it to the 3Arena yesterday and laughed as he recounted the terrifying incident.

He said: “It’s lovely here. I flew in this afternoon and I can tell you I am moving here – f**k London. It’s nice to be alive. It has not been a great week. I’m on edge. Yeah, I’m OK. We’re OK.

“I’ll be honest, I could have done with you lot, seriously, 9,000 Dubliners.”

Putting on an Irish accent, he added: “‘We got your back, we got your back. Who do ye think you’re f ***** g with?’

“Unfortunately, I was to fend for myself. It didn’t go well. Think of the film Taken with me as Liam Neeson – the polar opposite. It wasn’t The Fast And The Furious, rather I was stationary and f ***** g panicking.

“I was in the car, I couldn’t get it started. It is supposed to be fight or flight. Well I have a new one – just f ***** g freeze.”

Thanking well-wishers for their advice, he added: “Everyone has been so amazingly supportive, they just keep saying to me that it is just going to take time. Time is the healer. “Yeah? I’ve lost my f ***** g watch. How is time going to heal anything when I can’t tell what time it is?

“I now know why people get Rolex watches – to find out the precise time they are mugged.”

The comic, who is playing another three nights at the 3Arena, told the audience: “It is nice to be back on stage, it was touch and go whether I was going to come here.

“This is my favourite my favourite arena.” gig,
