LAMPARD’S BLUEPRINT

Frank’s Derby reign starts with return to Chelsea for Dasilva

FRANK LAMPARD wants highly-rated Chelsea defender Jay Dasilva as part of his Derby County revolution.

The versatile left wing-back, 20, was among the heroes in France last Saturday when victory over Mexico in the final gave

England Under21s a third successive

Toulon Tournament title.

Also in action then were Stamford Bridge 20-year-olds Jake Clarke-salter and Fikayo Tomori as well as Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour, 17, who played for the Scots.

Charlton are keen to take Dasilva back after he lifted the club’s Player of the Year award at the end of a season-long loan. But at least two Premier

JOSH MURPHY has joined Cardiff for an £11million club-record fee from Norwich.

The 23-year-old winger is Neil Warnock’s first buy of the summer.

“Josh is a player I’ve watched for a number of years,” said the

Bluebirds boss.

“He’s always excited me when he runs with the ball.

“He’s the right age with his best still to come. He can play an instrumental part in helping us stay in the Premier League and he’s looking forward to the challenge.” League clubs and a handful of Championship outfits want him to continue the next phase of his development with them.

Lampard hopes to get a head start on Dasilva (right), who has already won three FA Youth Cups and two UEFA Champions Leagues. The Blues have been so impressed with his rapid rise that they tied him down on a fouryear deal last July. Dasilva was immediately sent out on loan to gain experience at Charlton. He is now one of the most sought-after young talents in the country and already a key player for Aidy Boothroyd’s Under-21s.

Last summer he captained the England side that clinched the UEFA European U-19 Championship.

Three years ago, after a 16-year-old Dasilva had been part of the Chelsea U-19 team that won the UEFA Champions League beating Shakhtar Donetsk in the final, his display was hailed by a number of senior pros.

Chelsea wasted no time in getting him into their set-up at 13 after he cut his teeth at home town Luton. Charlton manager Lee Bowyer raves about Dasilva, insisting the 5ft 7in defender is already superior to Ashley Cole at the same stage of their development.

Bowyer said: “I played against Ashley at a young age and I think Jay is very similar – but probably better than Ashley Cole was at his age.

“Everyone knows how good Ashley was, probably England’s best offensive leftback for a long, long time. Jay is the same.

“Everybody thinks because he’s small, he might struggle. But he’s unbelievable in the air.

“He’s a baby but he uses his body so well. People think they can pick him out and get balls to the far post, but he uses his body so they don’t get a clear header against him when he can’t win it... and people don’t score.”
