President brags over Korea deal
DONALD Trump boasted he has made the world safer after claiming North Korea is no longer a nuclear threat.
The US President signed an agreement with Kim Jong-un over denuclearisation following their historic summit in Singapore on Tuesday.
And as the world waits to see if the dictator will honour his pledge, Mr Trump bragged on Twitter: “There is no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea. Everybody can feel much safer than the day I took office.”
And he even took a swipe at predecessor Barack Obama, claiming the problem should have been solved years ago.
He added: “Obama said North Korea was our most dangerous problem. No longer… sleep well tonight.”
Mr Trump made no mention of the concessions he gave to Kim in exchange for his promise to scrap nuclear missiles.
The President had promised him “security guarantees”. And in a move that alarmed allies of the US, he vowed to stop the annual joint military exercises with South Korea.
Mr Trump said: “We save a fortune by not doing war games, as long as we are negotiating in good faith.”
The move prompted the Pentagon to reassure its allies of its “ironclad” commitments on security in the region.
Kim is said to have invited Mr Trump to visit Pyongyang “at a convenient time”.
In his first reported comments since the talks, he said it was “urgent” to halt “irritating and hostile military actions against each other”.
