Angel to fly high

- BY ROBERT HYNES

HARRY ANGEL is the bet of the weekend and arguably one of the best gambles of the summer at the odds.

I expect Clive Cox’s superstar to romp home in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes to continue Godolphin’s incredible season.

Sheikh Mohammed was at Royal Ascot to see Blue Point land the King’s Stand Stakes on Tuesday, just over two weeks after Masar claimed victory in the Derby at Epsom.

Harry Angel has quite the CV, having won the July Cup and Sprint Cup last year.

He returned to action this season in the Group 2 Duke Of York Clipper Logistics Stakes, winning by two lengths and leaving the impression he has plenty more to give.

Not only do I think he will win this afternoon, but I expect him to brush his opponents aside in classy fashion.

And DREAMFIELD could then make it a double for the Godolphin team by landing the Wokingham Stakes for John Gosden.

The Newmarket trainer has never tasted victory in the contest, but this undefeated fouryear-old can change that today.

He has won all three of his starts at odds-on, with the most recent coming over course and distance on good to firm ground. Meanwhile,

will take all the beating in the Harwicke Stakes for Michael

Stoute and Ryan Moore.

It is not too often you see Moore riding for another stable when Coolmore have entries in the race and that is a tip in itself.

Stoute broke the record for the number of Royal Ascot winners earlier in the week and I would be stunned if Crystal Ocean doesn’t go crystal clear to win.

He boasts some good form, having tasted victory in three of his last four starts and finishing second in last year’s St Leger.

He also won his seasonal debut at Newbury by six lengths and should be heading for the winner’s enclosure again at very short odds.

NATALIE’S JOY looks the pick of the runners in the opening race, the Chesham Stakes.

She won her sole run to date in impressive fashion and could add to that here.

The Windsor Castle Stakes looks a wide open contest, but preference is for VAN BEETHOVEN, who could be an improver for Aidan O’brien, while the final race of the day should go to THOMAS HOBSON for Willie Mullins.

He was second in this contest last year having won the Ascot Stakes earlier in the week.

He should win this time around being fresh.
