Teen boy quizzed by gardai over park slaying of 23-year-old

HOMELESS cerebral palsy sufferer Adam Muldoon was stabbed more than 100 times in a frenzied attack, it was revealed yesterday.

A teenage boy was being questioned by gardai over the 23-year-old’s murder in a park in Tallaght, South Dublin.

A source said: “He was a harmless young man who was being bullied by this gang of thugs.”

A HOMELESS man with special needs was stabbed to death after hanging out with a gang of violent thugs, it has been claimed.

A teenager has now handed himself in to gardai probing Adam Muldoon’s horrific murder.

He was found with stab and slash wounds to his throat and neck in Butler’s Park or Jobstown Park area of Tallaght, South Dublin on Saturday morning.

It is believed the 23-year-old had been socialisin­g with a gang of young thugs.

Adam, who suffered from cerebral palsy was living rough in the area for some time.

A source said: “He was a harmless young man who was being bullied by this young gang of thugs.

“It seems he was looking for company and they took advantage of this. The theory is that at least one of the gang, who was drunk and drugged up, attacked him with a knife.

“He stabbed and slashed at his throat and left him for dead.

“This was a barbaric attack – it was a frenzied, hateful assault.”

It is understood a postmortem found Adam suffered upwards of 100 separate wounds, one of which slashed his throat. The source added: “Yesterday morning a boy handed himself into Tallaght Garda Station for questionin­g – he is 17.”

He was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and can be held for a maximum of 24 hours without being charged.

It is understood the youth has a long history with gardai.

His Facebook page contains images of him with guns, drug taking and drinking.

Meanwhile, friends and family of tragic Adam launched a Gofundme campaign to try and raise €5,000 to cover his funeral costs.

One pal shared the campaign on social media, writing: “Can everyone please share this please so Adam can get the send-off he deserves? Fly high Adam.”

A statement shared on the page reads: “As everyone knows poor Adam Muldoon was found brutally murdered in Tallaght, Dublin.

“The whole of the Jobstown community is devastated by the loss of such a harmless fella who didn’t have a bad bone in his body.

“We are asking for people to donate towards his funeral expenses so we can give him the best send-off that he deserves.

“Thanks everybody for your kindness and generosity, it will be very much appreciate­d.”

Friends of the murder victim also shared poignant tributes online as they remembered him as a “harmless funny chap”.

One woman wrote: “RIP... so very sad. They cant hurt you now. Condolence­s to the family x.”

Another said: “Such a gentle lad you deserve the best bed in heaven. RIP Adam xxx.”

And the homeless man’s sister wrote: “My beautiful brother, the most lovable and laughable person I have ever known.

“Your actions were so kind, you had a generous heart and generous mind.

“I will miss you, always my big brother, your little sister x.”
