dwts champion’s looking for love the old-fashioned way...by chatting to girls

- BY SHARON MCGOWAN Showbiz Reporter news@irishmirror.ie IRISH MIRROR COMMENT: 8 SINGLE STAR Jake Carter

JAKE Carter has said he’ll never turn to Tinder to help him find love.

The 19-year-old Dancing With The Stars winner is single and looking for “the one” but has no intentions of downloading dating apps to help him.

The Liverpool-born singer said he prefers a more “old-fashioned” approach when it comes to dating.

Jake told the Irish Mirror: “I’m still single – too busy with work to be honest. So I’m still looking for the right woman.

“I think the old-fashioned way of going out and having the courage to go chat to a girl is the best way you can meet someone. I wouldn’t use any dating apps. Not that they’re not great for anyone who does use them – they’re just not for me.”

Jake tangoed his way to success in March when he was crowned the DWTS champion along with professional dance partner Karen Byrne.

Since then, he has been on tour and last week, he started recording his debut album. And the singer-songwriter revealed he’s a massive fan of Irish band Picture This and is in talks to work on a song with them.

He added: “I went to see them in the RDS the other day and I guess what they’ve achieved in such a short space of time is kind of phenomenal and I admire them for what they’ve done.

“Every single they release seems to go straight to No1 because their music is so great. I’ve just started my first album. I’m recording a load of original music – since the show I’ve been getting really stuck into songwriting. We started recording a few tracks the last few days and it’s sounding great so far.

“It’s going to be a long process though, we’re not planning on releasing it until next year. I want to make sure it’s exactly as I want it to be.”

Jake is to play his biggest headline gig on October 29 in Dublin’s Vicar Street. Tickets, €20, are on sale on www.ticketmaster.ie and usual outlets.
