A GARDA has described finding the bodies of two men fused together in a burnt-out car.

Det Sgt Shane Curran was giving evidence in the trial of Dubliner Jason O’driscoll.

The 34-year-old, with an address at Richmond Avenue, Fairview, is accused of murdering Anthony Burnett, 31, and 25-yearold Joseph Redmond on March 7, 2012, in Co Louth. He has pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Det Sgt Curran told the Central Criminal Court yesterday he was called to Ravensdale Park near Dundalk on the night in question.

He said he saw a burnt-out car containing the badly burned remains of two adult men. The officer added: “The body in the driver seat was slumped out the door, the head was slumped out the door.

“The body in the passenger seat was slumped across this body, partially fused.”

He added two badly damaged bullets – fragmented into seven pieces – were recovered from the head area of one set of remains.

Two damaged bullets of the same caliber and broken into four pieces were recovered from the head area of the second body.

The men were later identified using DNA analysis on their muscle samples.

The trial continues today.
