Bail bid by boy on Ana murder charge
13yr-old asks to be freed until trial over girl’s death
Ana Kriegel, 14, died at disused farmhouse A TEENAGE boy accused of killing Anastasia Kriegel has asked to be freed from custody while his case is prepared.
The 13-year-old, who cannot be identified due to his age, appeared at the High Court in West Dublin.
He is charged with the murder of 14-year-old Ana at Glenwood House, Laraghcon, on the Clonee Road in Lucan on May 14.
Her body was discovered at the derelict property three days later.
At Cloverhill Courthouse yesterday the boy sat for a time alone watched over by gardai before joining his parents and grandfather.
Judge Robert Eagar heard evidence from Inspector Mark O’neill, who is leading the investigation.
The garda objected to bail on a number of grounds and gave evidence to the court outlining the inquiry.
Judge Eagar imposed strict reporting restrictions on the case and made an order that none of the evidence can be disclosed for legal reasons.
The trial was adjourned until tomorrow when the judge will give his ruling on the bail application. Anastasia’s family were not in court for the hearing. The schoolgirl was laid to rest on May 31 following a cremation at Newland’s Cross Cemetery in Ballymount, South Dublin.
Hundreds of tearful teenagers attended the ceremony to pay tribute to their friend who was born in Russia but adopted by her parents Patrick and Geraldine.
They asked mourners to reflect Ana’s love of “sparkle and colour” and requested that any donations should go to the Russian Irish Adoption Group.
