Crime stats a real challenge

-

He has been vocal about the great things Ireland has to offer and its revolutionary changing ways.

His first term in office has almost come to an end yet he has not revealed whether he wants to put his name forward to run again.

Although Micheal Martin and his party have said they will back him if he did decide to go for a second term, he is not saying if he will.

At this stage his silence on the matter is not doing him any favours.

The public deserve to know who their options are for the next President so they can have sufficient time to decide.

As well as not allowing people to know he is running, he’s not allowing those who wish to run against him a fair opportunity either as it will shorten their campaign and election time.

There is no questioning how great a job he has done but he needs to end his silence.

The longer he stays quiet on the matter the higher chance of tarnishing his reputation.

Either way, everybody deserves to know what his stance is.

And if he does happen to run for a second term we will back his decision fully. THERE has been an increase in almost every crime group over the past year, it has been revealed.

Fraud and robbery incidents are up, according to the new Central Statistics Office, by a massive 16% alone.

Unfortunately, it’s a worrying trend which shows no sign of changing any time soon.

The only positive statistic is that the number of homicides has dropped by 17%.

New Garda Commissioner Drew Harris will have a tough job trying to tackle the figures and reduce these worrying crime rates.

Here’s hoping he can bring much-needed improvements to the force and give those already in the job the resources they need.
