Right up until he died, the friends Jackson had left said he called himself “The Hawk” due to his self-proclaimed ability to spot and seduce women who were much younger than him.
The extent of Michael’s hatred of his father was revealed when he was found after his death to have left Jackson out of his will.
While Katherine reportedly receives more than $1million annually from Michael’s estate, Joe was given nothing.
With no real income, Jackson began scrounging for cash, once even selling perfume at a shopping mall in Vegas.
But even that venture failed because the perfume line carried his late son’s image. The mall shut down the operation until Jackson could provide proof he had the legal right to sell products –which he never did.
Instead, as he grew increasingly frail, he charged $50,000 appearance fees to whoever would dare book him, though there were very few takers.
In his final years he suffered from diabetes, several strokes and a mild form of dementia.
And when the once-proud manager and producer passed away in hospital yesterday, it came within days of the anniversary of tragic Michael’s death nine years ago.
Jackson is survived by Katherine and children Rebbie, Jackie, 67, Tito, 64, Jermaine, 63, La Toya, Marlon, 61, Randy, 56, Janet, 52, and Joh’vonnie,43. Son Brandon died at birth in 1957.
