Down at District 8 tonight Subject present Brazilian Gui Boratto. Born in 1974 in Sao Paulo, Boratto initiated his career in the advertising sector in 1993.
Over the next 10 years however, he performed various works for countless record labels both national and international, such as EMI, Virgin, Irma, BMG, Edel, Vidisco, ZYX, among others.
It was 10 years of honest and competent work for consecrated artists such as Steel Pulse, Desiree, Mano Chao, Gal Costa, Chico Buarque, Fernanda Porto, Kaleidoscópio, Leila Pinheiro, and many others.
Boratto is also A&R and one of the owners, alongside his brother Tchorta, of the Brazilian independent label, Megamusic, distributed by Trama.
Some 13 years ago he began to dedicate himself to his own productions and compositions, with a slant on a more personal side to his abilities.
With countless licenses with respected European labels, such as Plastic City, Circle, Kompakt, Audiomatique, among others, Boratto has managed to appear in the chart and playlists of people like Michael
Mayer, Tiefschwarz, Steve Bug, Phonique, Martin Landsky, Hernan Cattaneo, to name a few.
Boratto is a name to look out for on the Brazilian house, techno and minimal scene but still manages to bring his skills to the likes of Ireland, the UK and Germany.
In relation to tonight this gig is part of the Pentagram album tour, the Brazilian producer’s first LP since 2014. Dropping last week on Kompakt, Boratto further explores the melodic, high-energy sound of his past records, drawing upon classic drum machines and his new Buchla modular synth.
One track, Overload, is a collaboration with Boratto’s wife, Luciana Villanova, who was the vocalist on his biggest hit to date, 2007’s Beautiful Life.
He is joined by Mulljoy with tickets at €20 doors at 11pm.
Tomorrow the Turks Head play host to UK house music legend and original Ministry Of Sound resident Jazzy M. Jazzy’s last gig was the Wright Venue and it’s a welcome return to the capital for the man who introduced House music to the UK on his Jackin Zone radio show and also played the first record at the Ministry of Sound’s Saturday night party back in 1991.
Paddy Sheridan is spinning also with the line up completed by the likes of Craig Moloney, Tony Langsford, Myself and Stephen Grand and Pa Hodge.
