Great flight shark
A MIGHTY great white shark bursts from the deep, surfacing as it hunts for seals.
The incredible shot was taken by wildlife photographer David Jenkins , 46, from Dublin. He has been photographing “flying sharks” in False Bay, Cape Town, South Africa, for 10 years.
David said: “A flying great white shark is one of the most incredible sights – an amazing show of power and agility.”
Meanwhile, a great white shark has been spotted off the southern coast of Majorca. Scientists pictured the 16.5ft animal before revealing the historic sighting on social media.
The shark, seen near the inhabited island of Cabrera off southern Majorca, was spotted around
10am on Thursday. Shark in Majorca Scientific expedition Alnitak, led by biologist Ricardo Sagarminaga van Buiten, said on its Facebook page: “In recent years there were possible unconfirmed sightings and various rumours.
“But this is the first scientific observation of the presence of the white shark in Spanish waters for at least 30 years.
“On this occasion, this historic sighting has been photographed, filmed and contemplated by a crew of 10 people from five countries.”
Alnitak, a research, education and conservation project, said two 16-year-old grant students were among those who had witnessed the shark.
