Elton ball car raises €820k for AIDS fund
Elton with Mclaren A MCLAREN 570S Spider donated to Elton John’s AIDS Foundation has sold for €820,000 – more than four times its typical value.
The 3.8-litre supercar, normally worth €186,000, was bought by an anonymous bidder.
It had been donated by Mclaren Automotive for Elton’s Argento Ball at his Berkshire home.
The singer said: “We are thrilled. Funds raised can make a real impact for our work with young people.”
The auction winner will also get a personal tour of the Mclaren Technology Centre by Amanda Mclaren, the only child of founder Bruce.
Stars including Ed Sheeran, Victoria Beckham and Tracey Emin attended the bash, which is held every years by veteran singer Elton.
